I offer a number of services aimed at supporting the international families and communities in The Netherlands. My area of expertise is quality international education at all levels and well-being of children, adolescents and young adults.
SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD
As per the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, every child has the right to quality education for personal development. Unfortunately, some face obstacles such as cognitive deficits, concentration issues, or emotional discomfort. My aim is to assist children and teens in rediscovering their strengths, utilizing them to overcome challenges, and ultimately succeeding in school.
Recognizing each individual's uniqueness, our approach involves an initial meeting, assessments as needed, and a customized plan of action. What sets Baumgarten Child Psychologist and More apart is the flexibility in timing and location of support. I provide assistance not only during office hours but also after school, evenings, and weekends, adapting to the needs of each child.
SUPPORTING INTERNATIONAL FAMILIES
Parenting practices around the world share three major goals: ensuring children’s health and safety, preparing children for life as productive adults, and transmitting cultural values. A high-quality parent-child relationship is critical for healthy development. Having said that, international or expat parents also face doing this while living away from family. And it’s hard, particularly if things aren’t going as smoothly as expected. SERVICES FOR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS
International schools, like their pupils and their families, face unique challenges here in the Netherlands. I offer a wide range of psychological services which include: specific assessments and/or interventions for individual pupils or small groups of children, extended education for teachers, preventative and informative educational lectures for parents, supervision of academic interns.
More specifically, these are some of the services we can offer schools: •Individual and/or group observations and advice based on these observations •Individual cognitive and/or behavioral assessments and advice based on these •Individual and/or group sessions on various topics including self-esteem, emotion regulation, psychoeducation ADHD, ASD etc. •Staff education covering a variety of subjects including: child development, growth mindset, mindfulness, child and adolescent disorders and the classroom, understanding IQ tests, having difficult conversations with parents etc. •Parent Educational Presentations/workshops covering a variety of subjects including: child development, multilingualism, third culture kids, prosocial behavior and bullying, positive parenting, self control, parenting styles, homework, the importance of play etc.
ACADEMIC LECTURES AND SUPPORT
I also offer a wide variety of services for universities by a fully qualified instructor with multiple years of experience at applied science and academic university level with bachelor and masters students. This includes substitute or structural freelance support as needed for a number of subjects including developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, pedagogy etc. from lecturing, work groups, thesis supervision, internship supervision etc. Please contact me for more information.
